Ampeleia IGT Toscana 2018

From the vineyard “dell’Asina” (vineyard “of the donkey”) Ampeleia brings us something special. An expressive Cabernet Franc made from grapes grown in clay-rich soil carrying lashings of schist and limestone. Perfectly balanced with a medium to full body, and crisp and bright fruit notes. A keen palate may pick up a touch of earthiness too. This wine has a rather unique little touch to it: a wonderful, menthol note that stays present throughout this sensory adventure. Combine this with the ripe, granular tannins and viola! Something surprisingly different. It’s Cabernet Franc at its perfection!
