The young but established winemakers of DoReMi source their grapes from Kartli and Kakheti. Their vineyards are a fragrant tangle of wildflowers and herbs, their process – organic, authentic and free from additives. This white wine had a brief spell of skin contact, leaving it slightly golden and alive with character. Wonderful aromas of nutmeg, rose and wild herbs greet the nose. The palate reveals a full viscous body, a lively cidery acidity and a higly mineral flavor.

You haven’t even had the chance to smell it, yet that fascinating hazy orange color has already stolen your heart. Once poured, this wine exudes powerful, but gentle aromas of Turkish delight. Dive a little deeper, and there’s a whole layer of wonderful herbs and flowers. The flavor is pleasantly acidic and moderately intense. Long sweet-spicy aftertaste. Unfiltered and bottled without any SO2. A succulent treat all-round.

One of the best examples of Moravian orange wines. First fermented and aged for 9 months with skins, seeds and stems in a beeswax-coated Georgian qvevri amphora (a great place to spend your teenage years if you’re a young and promising natural wine) and then matured for a whole year in oak barrels. All this – to let Chardonnay blossom in a new way, creating an extremely complex, aromatic, and soft wine with an excellent structure, gentle tannins, and notes of orange and honey. Premium, collectable stuff.

Theo Coles set out to make this his ode to the New Zealand coastline. And how on earth do you write that kind of poetry with wine? Clearly, with the help of true artisan skill. New Zealand’s signature Sauv Blanc fermented on skins for 6 weeks, malolactic fermentation and zero sulphur in the bottle. Exceptional, with an intensely tropical aroma (mango!) and a classic Sauvignon Blanc flavor wrapped in a high acidity.

With this 2019 Veltliner, the Sklep guys created a truly memorable rustic wine that feels like sitting on a haystack in the setting sun on a warm summer’s day. Herbal, with a gentle prickle of minerality and a touch of honey, this wine leaves a long, dreamy aftertaste. Fermented with grape skins for 2 months and aged for 9 months in oak barrels. As always, no fining, filtration or SO2.

An unfined and unfiltered wild orange from the ovioid. Take a sip and observe a swirl of colorful, sharp and prickly acidic flavors that take the forms of peaches, apricots, and oranges… Wow. This would make an unforgettable summer day-drinking experience.

First created in 2008, this Bandito was destined to become South Africa’s first ever orange wine. Fermented with wild yeast and set aside for maceration with skins for 8 days, then aged in oak for 6 months a 3000L oak barrel. The 2020 vintage has a complex aroma of candied fruit, butterscotch, white tea, acacia honey and an extreme minerality. Enjoy it as it is, or pair it with food. It's up to you. We're not your parents.

Another amazing creation by Slobodné. Acidic and captivating. We picked up flavors citrus zest, pine tree and linden blossom. Aromas of white pepper. As always, spontaneously fermented with the Grüner’s very own yeasts, élevage in ovoid and acacia barrels, no fining or filtration. And no funkiness. This is a very smooth natural.

An excellent, high-quality natural orange from Slovenia’s wine growing region of Podravje. A cuvée of Chardonnay, Riesling, Muscaris and Sauvigner Gris (yep, you read that right), it has been macerated with skins for 5 days to gain complexity and a beautiful amber color. This wine is incredibly well put together, with all its elements sitting in just the right place.

We can't think of a better way to get introduced to orange wines. OKR is a cuvée of Chardonnay, Gruner Veltliner, Sauvignon and Traminer grapes. It is macerated, meaning that the freshly squeezed grape juice was left in contact with grape skins, seeds and stems – to bring out the flavor while giving it a gentle ochre tint. Beautifully balanced and highly drinkable, just the way we love it. Comes in cute minimagnum bottles too.

‘miNImus’ comes from sandy, loamy soils. Treating the eyes to an intensely even shade of amber. Just as pronounced aromas give away its origins in amphora, who’s terracotta perfume wafts gently in the air. On the palate sandy, light tannins amuse themselves amongst intense and aromatic notes that lean more towards dried fruits and spices. Curiously complex. A refreshing acidity awakens the senses to absorb this 12.5% ABV pleasure, to whom lovers of amphora wines will certainly appreciate. Ageing for four months in French oak barrels and then a further six months in the bottle leaves this gratifying drink a comfortable intermediate-to-advanced in its category. Not too heavy. Not too light. Just right.
