When it comes to wine, very few countries can boast the same level of tradition and cultural significance as Georgia. Wine is everything here. This white from West Georgian winemaker Zurab Ghvaladze is made from a blend of indigenous Georgian grapes Tsitska and Tsolikouri, both highly regarded in their native Imereti region. This wine is quite light, citrusy and floral with a really delicious pear candy note in the flavor. Acidity is just right. Exceptionally well crafted and agreeable!

Made with 100% Xarel-Lo grapes from the Garraf Natural Park (just outside of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain) 'Cric Cric' is quite an unusual wine. Colored a clear, pale-yellow with a red gold hue, it has a peculiar Madeira-like pollen scent on the nose that hits you like sun to the face on a hot summer's day. On the palate herbaceous notes along with green apple provide a tickling freshness, combining nicely with ‘Cric Cric's’ crisp acidity and medium body. Fermented in stainless steel tanks to maintain the purity of its flavor.

From the innovative young winemakers at Ampeleia we have this wonderful Tuscan white, co-planted with other symbiotic plants in the true, harmonic fashion that we've come to know from Ampeleia. Following a five day maceration period, this wine is aged over the course of six months in concrete tanks; preserving the fruit flavours without outside influence from other materials (such as oak). An inviting yellow-orange color is our first clue to the easy nature of this wine. On the nose, there's anorchard blossom aroma. With a swirl, the wine will release a touch of sweet honey. Richer tones of stone fruits are revealed on the palate, followed by a light citrus finish. This is a nice, easy and rather drinkable white to enjoy with almost any food you can imagine!

Elegantly sunny and reassuringly ripe. Rich as gold in color, full of exotic, slightly bitter notes of grapefruit. Aromatics of fresh, sun dried herbs. With an alcohol content of 13.5% and apparent viscosity and complexity, this deceptive white actually proves to be light and well balanced. The notes are brought into harmony through the presence of a refreshing acidity. A flexible wine, great for almost any meal, be it fish, poultry or cheese. Its adaptability is almost unlimited, but it prefers to come out to play in the summer and autumn.

A quaint, gentle and slightly bristly creation, made with utter ignorance of modern technology. It’s got a crisp acidity and a soft touch of cider and sauerkraut. The Sauvignon Blanc was treated in different ways: part in whole bunches, part pressed, and aged in stainless steel containers and amphoras respectively. Several barrels were set aside, not quite full and not quite airtight, to naturally develop a thin film of yeast on the surface. Then blended together, unfiltered and unfined.

A series of wonderful coincidences or the result of conscious decisions? Whatever a perfect day is to you, this Perfect Day was created in a beautifully complex process, with a kaleidoscope of local organic grapes which were treated separately each in their own way to achieve the best results. Merged into a single wine, they make a staggeringly good fruity and floral orange (with some nice natural playfulness!).

An excellent example of how they do natural in Moravia. A well-balanced blend of some of the region's favorite grapes, Riesling, Welschriesling and Muller Thurgau, this wine spent 7 months on lees. The result is this juicy and highly mineral wine that pairs easily with mains and starters or casual snacks.

This juicy Pinot Gris from Marada’s limestone vineyards spent 10 months on lees in old oak barrels to gain its lovely structure and complexity (you know, the ‘hmm… interesting’ bit). In one swirl, it blossoms into a meadow of summer herbs and flowers. Well-structured and gastronomic, pairs very well with food.

Natural wines of the cloudier farmhouse type do have a reputation for tasting cirdery. So why not go all out and just mix the two together? A cheerful wake up call to anyone who takes wines too seriously. No filtering or sulphites, only highly drinkable fermented fruit juice with equal parts of white wine made from Merlot grapes and apple juice (cider).

An elegant Pinot Gris from old vineyards that tastes aaaalmost conventional. But don't be fooled. Creamy, fruity and zesty on the nose, and light yet flavorful on the palate, this wine exudes originality for the keen taster. It's been oak matured, you can taste that too.

Ok, so Koráb’s idea of ‘gold’ is Riesling and Sauvignon suffused with grape skins and matured for 6 months in barrels of acacia. We kinda see his point. Skin contact gave this wine a beautiful golden hue. Easy, fresh and fruity, it exudes dried apricot and yellow flowers, and has a nice acidity. Safe choice if you are not yet convinced with natural wines.

Say that again? MAL-VE-RI-NA. A new and rare grape variety from Moravia of the fungus-resistant PIWI type. Pure, honest, with a full, well-rounded flavor and a touch of ripe apples. So rustic it would look great in a battered old straw hat. Looks even better in a glass though.
